Re: 2024 & prior years' tax arrears & penalties (“Arrears”)
The lands listed below are subject to tax arrears recovery. The outstanding Arrears must be paid by July 31, 2025 in order to avoid tax recovery proceedings.
Any properties with unpaid Arrears after the deadline date, will enter the tax recovery process and be referred to an outside firm which specializes in this area. In addition, that firm's fees and expenses will be added to your taxes which could amount to hundreds of dollars. Those costs will be added to your taxes regardless of the amount of Arrears owing.
2025 is a revaluation year for the province, which means every property owner will receive an assessment notice. The deadline to appeal your property assessment is April 30th, 2025.
The assessment roll may be viewed at the the village office located at 204 Park Ave, North Portal. You may also access assessment information through SAMA's online database (also known as SAMAView). SAMAView provides public access to search, view and compare individual property assessments in all SAMA’s client jurisdictions. Access is free of charge for non-commercial users.
